Renters Insurance Offers Peace of Mind
Jun 27, 2025
June 28 marks National Insurance Awareness Day. This date is a reminder to take stock of what you hold dear and how to protect it. It’s an opportunity to ask yourself, if something unexpected happened tomorrow, would I be protected?
At K3 Holdings and Alpine LA Properties, we believe peace of mind begins with preparation. And for the 44 million Americans who rent their homes, this annual observance is the perfect prompt to think seriously about renters insurance, one of the most overlooked, yet most important, forms of personal protection.
For often less than the cost of a streaming subscription, you can insure everything that makes your house a home.
Renters insurance is about more than replacing lost or damaged items. It can also step in when life throws you a legal curveball. Liability protection, often included in renters policies, means you won’t be left footing a hefty bill, or facing a lawsuit, on your own in case of an accident.
Good insurance planning starts with knowing what you own. Taking inventory, snapping photos, noting values, and updating that list annually will ensure you have the documentation you need if you ever file a claim.
It’s also wise to understand the full scope of your policy. Are high-value items like jewelry or collectibles covered? Does your plan include “loss of use” coverage to pay for hotel stays? What about damage from natural disasters? Not all risks are included by default, so asking the right questions and reviewing the fine print can prevent surprises later.
And if you already have other policies (auto, life, even pet insurance) bundling renters insurance with the same provider can often earn you a nice discount. It’s one of those rare cases in life where more coverage can cost less.
So how should you mark National Insurance Awareness Day? Take an hour to pull up your policy. Read it with fresh eyes. Call your insurer with questions. Update your inventory list. And if you don’t yet have renters’ insurance consider getting a few quotes.
Insurance is one of those things we hope we’ll never need, but when we do, we’re grateful it’s there.
At K3 Holdings and Alpine LA Properties, we encourage you to see renters insurance not just as a policy, but as a reassurance that you’re looking out for yourself, your space, and everything that makes it feel like home.
